(4 minute read)
Heyo! Welcome to Day 2 of the “Twelve Days of Giving”! This read is a transcription from the Facebook LIVE that goes along with it found in The Prosperity Lounge on Facebook. Today's topic is one I'm a HUGE fan of and that is: strategy.
What is a strategy, you say? It's a game plan, road map, guiding fucking beacon – whatever have you, for those who have a lot on their standard correl plate and want to expand their plate to full-life brimming china with a side of crystal martini glasses. Strategies are made to upgrade your life and mitigate any risk that crops up along the way.
Strategy helps the situation – whatever said situation is. The above photo is a mashup I put together from The Coveteur of Brooke Wall (long time girl crush and CEO of The Wall Group)'s closet. Now you and I might see two completely different things looking at this. I see organization and options.
Here are the top objections & push-back I hear around strategies:
- What if something changes? Ie. work, life, relationships, financial position, etc.
- Why do I need a strategy in the first place?
- Do I need a strategy if I'm already making good money?
- I'm afraid to put the work in up front in case things change.
Common thread and please hear me as I timestamp this validation many of us (as in most of the world) can relate to: oh yes, things are going to change! This is WHY you need a strategy in the first place.
A strategy gives you options to live by, respond to, measure against, grow into & with, and change. Strategies aren't set in stone, they're meant to be flexible and flow overtime.
A well-defined strategy will show you where your opportunities & options lie – and help you anchor, allocate and scale your time around these items. I.e. Where you actually have room for growth, where your most lucrative opportunities lie, the relationships that are involved, the time and money it will take up to achieve these things, and when you'll be paid.
Growth occurs when you can see what's in front of you and when you can measure what's behind you. Without your strategy to map against or future align – you're chances of creating true and lasting wealth are about the same as picking someone up in a totally wasted state at a dive bar. As in, the chances of this long-term, sustainable growth in wealth are mother effing SLIM.
Hooking yourself up with a cash flow strategy, which links and plays directly into your bigger picture vision, is a far more lucrative, realistic, achievable and healthy option. You might not hit a homerun the first or second time, though you'll learn from your lessons, see what worked, what didn't and move on to a bit more charming of a match for the long haul – in income, joy and success.
So who are you choosing in terms of strategy or anti-strategy? The Ryan Gosling of the pack: aka the long-term sustainable, growth oriented cash flow strategy or the scarily random human you meet in the dive bar (no strategy at all)? Make the right call, I know you've got it within you.
With prosper + flow,
